Enhancing Recovery Through Targeted Soft Tissue Treatment
At Winelands Chiropractic, we offer Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) as a specialized technique to address soft tissue injuries and promote healing. IASTM involves the use of specifically designed instruments to assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions effectively.
Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilizations (IASTM) is a skilled myofascial intervention used for the treatment of soft tissues (muscles, myofascial, tendons and ligaments) by various compressive stroke techniques. This technique makes use of metal instruments, usually made from stainless steel with bevelled edges and contours to conform to different anatomical regions.
Precise Treatment: Our trained chiropractors utilize handheld instruments to detect and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue restrictions or scar tissue adhesions.
Focused Therapy: These instruments allow for targeted treatment, applying controlled pressure to break down adhesions and encourage the body's natural healing response.
Enhanced Recovery: IASTM aims to improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and enhance tissue remodelling, facilitating faster recovery from injuries. The introduction of controlled microtraumas to the affected soft tissue structures stimulates a local inflammatory response, which initiates the resorption of inappropriate scar tissue (fibrosis) and facilitates the remodelling of the affected soft tissue structures.
Chronic Pain: IASTM can assist in managing chronic conditions by addressing soft tissue restrictions contributing to discomfort.
Acute Injuries: It's effective in treating acute injuries, such as sprains, strains, or tendonitis, by promoting proper tissue healing and reducing scar tissue formation.
Restricted Mobility: For individuals experiencing a limited range of motion or stiffness, IASTM can help restore proper movement patterns.

Repeated strain.
Any trauma to the musculoskeletal system.
Poor posture.
Pain Relief: By breaking down scar tissue and adhesions, IASTM may alleviate pain associated with soft tissue injuries or chronic conditions.
Improved Function: Restoring proper tissue function and mobility is a primary goal, allowing individuals to regain optimal movement patterns.
Faster Recovery: IASTM can expedite the body's natural healing processes, leading to quicker recovery from injuries or overuse conditions.
